Who can benefit from therapy?
Everyone. Therapy is a place where individuals, couples, children (ages 5+), and families can discover a renewed understanding of themselves and each other. Sessions can be a place to examine options in current life transitions or within recurrent arguments in your intimate relationships. or they can be a place for children and teens to make sense of their world through art, dialogue, and play.
What happens in therapy?
A typical session can include many activities: dialogue, play, art, walks (yes, we can even take this process outside). It can be on an individual basis or you can bring in a partner, trusted adult, or the whole family. I integrate talk, play, behavior, and mindfulness-based therapeutic techniques to create a therapeutic experience specifically tailored to you (or your child’s) specific needs. I find it truly magical when my clients tell me that after even a few sessions they are noticing a renewed ability to laugh, smile, or re-engage in activities they previously enjoyed.
The process starts by first making an appointment. In our first session we will discuss the needs, struggles, and concerns that bring you into counseling. We will work on practical skills and structuring your daily life in order to heal wounds and toxic patterns. Everything you feel is allowed to show up to session. I provide a safe environment where curiosity, kindness, and exploration are encouraged.
Your first session is free of charge as a way for you and your family to get to know me and see how we work together. Contact me at 206-707-5105 for a phone consultation or to schedule your first session.
